A home battery stores electricity for when you need it most. Paired with solar panels, it captures energy your home generates during the day and makes it available in the evening when your usage is highest. The second is tariff arbitrage. Even without solar panels, a battery can charge overnight on a cheap rate — some tariffs offer as low as 7p per kWh between midnight and 5am — and discharge during the day when your standard rate applies. Over a year, the savings are significant.
